Welcome
to the Society of
First Families
of South Carolina
1670-1700!

South Carolinians are proud
of our long, rich history.  Our state has been
influencing the birth and direction of a nation since
the earliest days of colonization.  The Society of First Families of South Carolina 1670-1700  is working to perpetuate the memory of those who achieved a permanent settlement in South Carolina between
1670 and 1700; cherish, maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom; and foster
true patriotism and love of Country
.

Our Objectives

Preservation

Encourage the preservation and restoration of historical records, documents, objects and edifices related to the Early Colonial Period of South Carolina

Remembrance

Perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved a permanent settlement in South Carolina by the erection of monuments as a reminder of the sacrifice made for liberty

Education

Our society is focused on promoting the study of history with the students of today.  Since 1988, two scholarships are awarded annually to students who are studying history at the College of Charleston.
